Following local politics for most of my life, I’ve seen Magna struggle with its identity. After transforming from a township to a metro township — and then being pushed into becoming a city — it feels like we’ve lost our direction. Projects are left incomplete, and government has become difficult for residents to navigate. Our municipal code, inherited from the county, is complicated and hard for regular citizens to understand. Our city government was formed in a crash course, taking on new responsibilities while key services moved from the county into the Municipal Services District (MSD). Too often, emails and messages from residents go unanswered, or receive politically safe replies rather than actionable solutions.

And people are tired of it.

Those currently running the city are doing the best they can, but they need leadership, accountability, and support. They need fresh ideas. The people of Magna deserve better. We need to clarify our code so residents know what they can and can’t do — and how to advocate for changes when needed. We need a stronger voice with our neighboring cities and with the state. And above all, Magna must become more transparent. Magna City is the people’s government. Our officials are public servants who should be accountable only to you — the people of Magna.

If elected Mayor, this will be my sole objective: to set a precedent for Magna’s future leaders and the future of our city.
